Higher Study in China
Country Description: China is a country in East Asia bordering the East China Sea, Korea Bay, and the South China Sea. Neighboring countries include 14 sovereign states. However, more international students are flocking to China than ever before. According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), over 600,000 foreigners studied in China in 2020 – marking a 30 percent increase from 2016. China attracts more international students than any other Asian power and ranks third globally, behind the United States and the United Kingdom. Over 50 percent of China’s inbound international students come from neighboring countries, such as South Korea, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Thailand, and Russia. Students from South Korea alone account for almost 16 percent of all foreign students studying in China in 2020. By comparison, the United States draws nearly 75 percent of its foreign students from Asia and the Middle East.
Fall session: The fall session start on the 1st of September. The deadline for the application is on 31st of May. However, in some university application deadline is until mid-August. For CSC and the other scholarship application deadline is at the end of March and it starts from December.
Spring Session: Spring Session starts from the 1st of March. The deadline for the application is on the 31st of December but some universities take the application until the end of February. Note: We recommend everyone to apply early. It will increase your chances. In the spring session, 95% of Chinese universities offer a one-year Chinese language course. Only a few universities offer majors in the spring session. Moreover, if you enroll in the spring semester, you can start your major study from the fall session (September) in the same university.
Scholarships: There are many scholarships for prospective students. Here are a few popular scholarships. Municipal Government Scholarship. CSC (China Scholarship Council) Scholarship. University President Scholarships. Confucius Institute Scholarship. Belt and Road Scholarship.
Tuition Fees: Average tuition fees 20000 RMB per year for engineering, business and arts-related major and for MBBS tuition fees almost 40000 RMB per year. But 70% of international students get a minimum amount of scholarship for engineering business or arts-related majors. You must need to know that no Chinese university offer scholarship for MBBS course.
Bank Solvency: According to the immigration, fees paying students need to show at least 4000 USD in your bank account. For CSC scholars no need to show any kind of bank statement.
